Fitness update

Gah.  Not much progress this week.  The food orgy over the 4th holiday ruined any benefits from hiking on the 3rd.

I gained about 0.3lbs of fat this week and now am only down one pound of fat since my road trip.  My goal is shed ten so I've got 9lbs to go and I've been going in the wrong direction recently.

Grilled stuffed peppers

Yesterday, I grilled up some stuffed peppers as part of a kick-ass 4th of July meal. The recipe for these stuffed peppers came from my Weber grill instructions and is awesome. You put in one cup of croutons (homemade or otherwise), one cup of cubed fresh mozzarella, a heaping spoonful minced garlic and Italian seasoning into a bowl. Mix it up, cut the tops of bell peppers and clean out the innards. Put in the cheese-crouton mixture and attach the tops with toothpicks. Grill on indirect medium for 12-15min if you have a Weber grill. Use your best judgment otherwise. You want to grill until the peppers are just about to fall apart.

Holy moly. They turned out great. Before grilling is top and after is bottom.

This marks my 45th new recipe.

Rava dosas with potato chickpea masala

Saturday night I made rava dosas with potato chickpea masala.  Gah.  Another bland Indian dish from my kitchen.  I've tried a lot of Indian recipes, but they rarely turn out for me.  I must not be using the right spices.  Well, it was spicy, but bland at the same time.  Crazy.

It is my 44th new recipe.

Indian Head hike

On Saturday, I hit the Catskills to hike Indian Head.  It was a gorgeous day out and the hike was great.  It was tough due to the steep sections, but it felt good and I didn't lag behind as much as I did on the Sugarloaf hike.

I pledge

In honor of the 4th of July and the principles on which this country was founded, I pledge to fight injustice and tyranny here and around the world, to consume less, to vote in every election, to contact my governmental representatives with suggestions and to be a productive member of society.

Fitness update

It seems Wednesday's measurement was an aberration.  Oh well.

I "gained" 2.3lbs of fat since the last measurement, but have still lost 1.2lbs on my quest towards losing 10lbs of fat after my roadtrip.

I'm going hiking today so I should get slightly more beefcake.  I still need to add some aerobic activity to the middle of the week.

Vegetarian cassoulet

Tonight I made some vegetarian cassoulet using leeks, carrots and Great Northern beans.  I had it with buttered bread.  It was alright, but not very flavorful.  I'm not sure what it is with me and soups, but most have failed to impress.

I did knock off my 43rd recipe.
