Rava dosas with potato chickpea masala

Saturday night I made rava dosas with potato chickpea masala.  Gah.  Another bland Indian dish from my kitchen.  I've tried a lot of Indian recipes, but they rarely turn out for me.  I must not be using the right spices.  Well, it was spicy, but bland at the same time.  Crazy.

It is my 44th new recipe.

Have you tried toasting your spices in a frying pan to help bring out the flavor more? This was recommended to me by one of my Indian friends -- however, the few times I've tried to make Indian food it comes out bleh too.

At least your dosa looks good. Man I love dosas.

I toasted the cumin seeds, but only because the recipe called for it. I guess I could've toasted the other spices, but the mixture simmered for a long time which should've activated them.
